2007/2008

To all my clients
with deep appreciation

What a great group of people. Truly, although we come together for fishing, it takes second place when compared to the wonderful people I've been honored to fish with.  When talking about the catching, some days were diamonds and some days were stones
but all of the days were special, made so by the people I fished with.

     Sincerely,

My wife, Jeanette, with a snook caught on our vacation to Florida. Jeanette caught the fish while we were fishing with Roger Hall, a good fisherman and wonderful host.

I picked up this snook while fishing our one guided day at Marco Island. This was one of a dozen or more snook landed. We looked for tarpon and redfish but no luck.

Leo and I were out in the smoke on June 27th when I stuck this nice five pound plus fish. The fish jumped on a yellow foam popper.

Leo stuck this four pounder on the same day but the fish made his back hurt, he wanted to let it go! The fish ate one of Leo's artsy black poppers.

Sturmer with a nice four pound LMB caught on May 9th,  just when the top water action started.

I picked up this 5 pounder on the same day that Sturmer stuck his fish. This fish inhaled a yellow popper about 8:00 in the morning.

Jim Lawson with an April striper

Roger Hall with one of about eight fish landed

This nine pounder caught on November 17th took Leo Gutterres way into his backing before coming to the boat. Leo was using a blue over white deceiver style fly that was at least seven inches long.

Harry Petrakis with a five pounder caught  on November 15th while fishing with Duwayne Norton, winner of the Striperfest gift certificate.

Brant Fetters with a 6lb. 12oz. striper caught 11/13/07. Brant and his fishing partner for the day and dad, Jon, are members of my home club, Delta Fly Fishers.

Paul Smyth from Ireland on his first striper expedition 11/6/07. He landed two like this plus another 25 or more fish from close to seven pounds down.

Keith Shein with a one rod, two fly double, 10/26/07. I'm trying to figure out, do I count this as one fish or two for the tournament?

This is the best I could do on the same day, 10/26/07. I have to catch them one at a time. This feisty six pounder put me on the reel and then some.

Jerry Halsbach, Alameda with a 5 pound striper 10/24/07

Steve Jordan from Santa Barbara with a 5 lb. 10 oz. striper caught on 10/22/07. You should have seen the one that got away!

Tony Sung from San Francisco with a nice striper approaching six pounds caught 10/18/07. I think this was Tony's second striper on a fly, the first a smaller fish caught a few minutes earlier.

Myself with a six pounder caught during a five hour session, 10/16/07. This was one of about fifteen fish caught between myself and Chris Laskodi U.C.D. and son of Bob Laskodi of Anglers Unlimited, Pleasanton.

Chris Laskodi, U.C. Davis, with a four pounder caught 10/16/07.

Tom Burton, Davis Fly Fishers,  with a 5lb 10 oz. striper caught while the wind was blowing 12-15mph, 10/3/07

Leo, "The Popper Guy," Gutterres with a two pounder caught on a cold and windy day,  9/28/07.

Another Sturmer trophy, a four pound one ounce LMB caught 9/26 while striper fishing.

Sturmer's first striper of the 07/08 season, 9/13. He doesn't always catch the biggest fish.

Sturmer White, Granite Bay FFers, with a two pound bass caught subsurface on 9/10. Not all LMB are caught on poppers!

My wife, Jeanette, with a fish a little under a pound  that wouldn't shake loose from the popper,  caught on Saturday, Labor Day weekend. Giving a fish slack line or shaking the fly is her primary method of release.

I found this old lady on her side on False River on 9/6/07. She must have swamped within the last week since her gear was in good shape and she had no algae growth on her. Sad to see an old veteran of the seas like this

First striper of the season, a seven pounder taken on a chrome popper at about 6:30 in the morning on 8/27/07.

Steve Jordan with a bass close to two pounds, one of about 25 landed on
8/24/07

A three and a half pounder caught on 7/31/07

Paul Brown with a 1lb. 7oz. fish caught 8/21/07.  Paul was out to defend his '06/07 tournament win but the day proved to be a tough one. Paul landed another five or six fish almost this big but it was hard work on a hot day. Like Arnold, Paul will be back to see if he can do a little better next time.

A Clear Lake 3 pounder caught 8/03/07 while on a weekend camp out.

First 3 pound bass of the season, 7/30/07

First 2 pound plus bass of the 2007 fall season, 7/29/07.
