Victor is a personal friend and by
far the absolute best fly fishing guide in Mulege. He takes his responsibilities
very seriously and will work hard to make sure your day on the water is the best
possible. I cannot speak enough of Victor's talents. If you book with him, you
will not be disappointed.

Ola! I'm Victor Mayoral Meza. I've been a fishing guide in Mulege for over 20 years, following in the footsteps of my father Enrique Mayoral. My experience covers over ten years fly fishing as well as conventional fishing, top water and bottom. My panga, the "Johanna" is equipped with a removable T-Top, VHF radio, GPS, Sonar and live bait well. I speak English as a second language so there shouldn't be a problem in our understanding each other. Even though I've been fishing for close to 33 years I still enjoy being on the water and helping others catch some of the most exciting salt water game fish in the world.

We leave the harbor at first light. Since no bait barges exist in Mulege, we'll "make bait" and then go to the areas I believe best for the targeted species. The fishing day lasts a total of about seven to eight hours. You are expected to bring your own fishing gear and your own drinks and lunch. If fly fishing, I suggest you bring a conventional rod as well since it is often necessary to troll for fish to locate the schools and the rod is also necessary to, "make bait." I do not suggest trolling with a fly rod since it sometimes twists the line so badly that it is destroyed.

Fly rods: 10-12 weight, floating and sinking lines, clousers, deceivers and poppers in 4/0, sardina and mackerel colors for Dorado.
|
Conventional rods: 7-8 foot medium light to medium rod with 30 lb. mono line.
|
Lures: Feathers and hoochies for Dorado; Rapalas, Yo-Yo's, Chrome spoons and other underwater salt water lures..
|
Sabiki or other bait catching rigs, don't forget the 5 to 6 ounce round sinker.

Almost no fishing equipment or supplies are available in Mulege! |

My phone number in Mulege is 153-0871. To dial from the United States dial 011-52-615-153-0871. I'm usually home by about 3pm, U.S. Mountain Time. However, if I'm not at home, my wife, Anselma, who does NOT speak English, will try to tell you when to call back. I'm sorry, I can't afford to return calls to the United States or elsewhere outside Mexico.
Because of the international problems in making a deposit, I will reserve your fishing date on the honor system and will hold it until the night before. The check in desk at your hotel should help you make a local call to my house when you arrive. However, if I am not contacted the night before or try to contact you at your hotel and you have not checked in, I will assume that you were unable to make the trip and will accept a local booking if available. When we make contact on the night before fishing I'll arrange our meeting place for the next morning's fishing.
I REALLY look forward to meeting you. It will be my pleasure to show you the beauties of the Sea of Cortez and some of the great fishing it offers.
Hasta Luego!
